Hello Joe, It's all right if I call you Joe isn't it?
In the first ten seconds of the Vice Presidential Debate Governor Sarah Palin (The Cassius Clay of the Debate world, "Float Like A Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee") had Joe Biden on the ropes.
Like a hockey player who was blind sided and crashed into the wall by an oncoming attacker Senator Biden never new what hit him. He had never met Sarah Palin before and was totally unprepared for what happened in that first ten seconds of them meeting. She took his hand, pulled his attention away from the audience and took control of him and the Debate, never to let go.
I am amazed at how well the Republican campaign set up this debate.
Like posturing before a heavy weight fight where at the weigh in the contestants yell and scream at each other acting like they are going to get it on right then and there, Sarah Palin in her interview with Katie Couric acted like an incompetent ditsy, dumb Blonde with brown hair. The pundits, the talking heads, the Democrats and all of us really believed her performance. We became very concerned that maybe John Mcain had made a terrible choice of running mates.
Governor Palin showed up for the Debate strong, powerful, knowledgeable and completely confident. She stayed on message, attacked Obama and OBiden and added humor to the Debate IE: "There you go Joe always looking at the past".
What we saw was Grand Broadway Theatre played out on the national stage with millions of us engaged in the Drama set up as a political debate. My hats off to who ever orchestrated this entire presentation.
The use of Television in Debates is an awesome thing. When we could see the candidates eyes as they were speaking there was a huge contrast between the two. Joe Biden's eyes were angry, tired, sad and hopeless while Sarah Palin's eyes were always smiling, hopeful, excited and self confident. Unlike Senator Biden who was mostly on the defense, Governor Palin was on the offense presenting hope for the future of our Country.
I believe that this Debate left us with hope for the country, a clear definable choice and an interest in watching the show as it continues to unfold.
That's all for now, have a good day.
